To manufacture components for various test rigs for internal and external clients. Be able to fully understand and work to manufacturing drawings including working to method statements and risk assessments. Work from written and verbal instructions to achieve a quality product. Follow company H&S and quality procedures.
Responsibilities
- Promote the manufacturing processes and ensure they are followed.
- Lead by example in areas of quality and health & safety.
- Control of work or re-work using factory route sheets and ensure information is passed to the works office.
- Manufacture of bespoke components to be used on development rigs, specialist tooling or supplied direct to customers.
- Interpretation of drawings supplied by Jacobs engineers and clients to develop the best practice to produce the items shown.
- Assembly of finished components and assisting in the fabrication section as workload demands.
- Working with engineers to solve problems and identify potential improvements.
- Control of own quality and inspection of work by other machinists including recording of all appropriate data.
- Manage own time to meet deadlines including overtime working when required.
- Ensuring that all housekeeping is kept to a high standard.
- Promote Jacobs standards including H&S, quality and the 5S standard within the workshop facility.
- A close attention to personal safety and to the safety of others.
Qualifications
- Requires a good all-round knowledge of fabrication, welding, and fitting/assembly skills.
- Have good communication skills and be able to work alone or as part of a team.
- Have undertaken a suitable apprenticeship scheme to a minimum of NVQ level 3.
- Previous welder coding that shows good welding ability is desirable.
- Experienced or trained in the use of overhead cranes. Not a necessity.
- Experienced or trained in the use of forklift trucks. Not a necessity.
Job Details
Full-time – 40 hrs per week
Permanent – 24 days holidays + BH
